About the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities:
- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

Qualifications:
- Design, develop, and deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with Barclays engineering standards and best practices & collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Drive automation and process optimization using low-code/no-code BPM platforms or equivalent technologies & participate in solution architecture discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
- IBM Watson Governance (watsonx.governance) or similar AI governance frameworks; familiarity with risk management workflows is a strong plus.
- Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code BPM tools (e.g., Appian, Pega, or equivalent) & strong foundation in SQL and relational database design; ability to optimize queries and manage data integrity.
- Proficiency in software engineering principles, including CI/CD, testing, and secure coding practices.
- Preferred Skills & exposure to Barclays software delivery lifecycle, including Agile methodologies and internal governance processes.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) & familiarity with API development and integration patterns.
- Full stack Java & Python.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in AI/ML model governance or compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of risk and regulatory requirements in financial services.
