About the role
Responsibilities:
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead a team within the Supply Chain Management & Automation (SCMA) organization, the group building the automated systems behind Coupang’s procurement and inventory operations.
- SCMA powers critical supply chain decisions such as what to order, how much to order, and when to procure, operating at massive scale across millions of SKUs and thousands of suppliers.
- In this role, you will lead a lean, high-impact team developing distributed systems that drive the end-to-end ordering lifecycle, from demand forecasting and inventory planning to supplier integration and execution.
- You will own both technical direction and delivery, driving complex initiatives in a fast-paced, large-scale environment.

- Strong hands-on experience in Java-based backend development and building microservices in distributed systems
- Proven experience designing and operating large-scale, data-intensive systems involving batch and stream processing (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Airflow or similar)
- Deep understanding of system design fundamentals including scalability, fault tolerance, data consistency, and performance optimization
- Experience building systems that operate on high-volume datasets (millions of SKUs, transactions, or entities) and involve complex business or decision logic
- Familiarity with modern data ecosystems including data warehouses, relational/NoSQL databases, and caching layers (e.g., Redshift, MySQL, Redis)
- Ability to drive end-to-end technical execution — breaking down complex supply chain or platform problems into scalable designs while staying hands-on in critical areas
