About the role

The Catalyst Engineering IOS XE Platform Independent Team designs and develops high-performance system software for a broad range of Cisco platforms, including Enterprise Switching, Routing, Wireless, and Service Provider solutions. As part of a team driving industry-leading innovation, you will contribute to building next-generation networking technologies in a rapidly evolving and dynamic market.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions aligned with Cisco's Design Thinking principles, emphasizing simplicity, user experience, reliability, and customer success.
- Design, implement, test, and support software features throughout the full software development lifecycle using Agile engineering practices.
- Collaborate with Product Management, UX Design, and Engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions across networking, cloud, and enterprise platforms.
- Build and enhance high-performance system software for Cisco Enterprise Switching, Routing, Wireless, and Service Provider platforms.
- Participate in technical design, coding, debugging, troubleshooting, code reviews, production support, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical design documentation and contribute to end-user documentation.
- Apply secure coding practices and execute testing focused on functionality, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Monitor, triage, and resolve production issues, participate in incident response and postmortem activities, and support operational excellence.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 0+ years of related experience.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Solid foundation in Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, and Software Engineering principles.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience developing secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional Agile teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Knowledge of networking technologies including L2/L3 protocols, routing and switching concepts.
